Perky may be the first word that pops into your mind when you meet her, but there is much more to her than glitter and giggles. Meet Wezlynn Davis, Director of Business Development. Her history with Salon Schools Group started innocently enough – she thought she’d attend The Spa School to become an Esthetician. Soon after graduation she put on her white lab jacket, whipped out the beakers and developed her own customizable skin care line…Bing Bang Boom – here she is – owner of The Beauty Lab in Delaware, OH and working to spread the beauty love at Salon Schools Group! What CAN’T she do? We haven’t figured that out! She does it ALL – Product development, curriculum design, school admissions, Super Mom, Master of Skin Care…there’s more but we’re tired of typing
Know anyone who has a pet hedgehog, much less two hedgehogs? Then meet Sabrina Walden, “mommy” of Murff and Cutie, also mother of one human. Sabrina will be involved in every aspect in your term as a student as she assists other staff members in making your education relevant, fun and hassle free!
While grounded firmly in reality (mostly) she enjoys other-worldly pursuits through MARCON (Multiple Alternate Reality Convention) – with Steam Punk being her favorite alternate genre and Sci Fi being her favorite reading material. (Werewolf? There wolfe!)
When nature calls, she answers! Wait, that doesn’t sound right…she LOVES nature! Give her a body of water and she’ll swim it; a plot of land and she’ll camp it; a furry friend, she’ll pet it.
Give her a student with a financial aid problem and she’ll solve it! At Salon Schools Group she’s our Vice-President, Student Aid.
Her extensive background in Federal Financial Aid programs and legislation makes her an invaluable asset to our staff and, especially, our students. In addition to her work family, Cheryl enjoys a loving family full of children and grandchildren. Bonus? She’s super sweet!
Whew! I think about Salon Schools Group hitting that 80 year mark and I want explode with pride! Our mission? Love what you do – serve students by providing a complete skillset education to all who pass through the doors of our cosmetology, barber styling, esthetics and nail technology schools. It’s really a pretty simple goal, but one not easily achieved.
The dedicated educators and administration of Salon Schools Group are part of making that mission a reality. The appreciation of graduates who shared “I Did It” stories of their success inspire us all, and lead the way for future professionals.
like myself, is an educator who came up through the ranks. We’ve gone from behind the styling chair in the salon, to behind the manikin in the classroom, to behind the computer that links us to our schools.
Indulge me a moment to acknowledge what sets Salon Schools Group apart from other schools, aside of course, Jim and me. We can’t be duplicated. Staying on top of trends, technology and industry growth is our secret. Our group of cosmetology, barber styling, esthetics and nail technology schools, prepares graduates to launch lucrative careers as highly trained salon professionals who are empowered to succeed in any salon setting.
Our nearly 40 educators are a wealth of knowledge, too. Show me another school with such an asset! Our educators must stay on top of not only the latest in cutting techniques, but also in advanced trends such as Balayage, Ombré and Keratin hair treatments. Natural hairstyling is a burgeoning trend, along with hair extensions and all sorts of braided styles. Air brushed makeup is something our students are excited about, and, the cosmetology and esthetic students receive their own personal air brush as part of their professional kit of equipment. Chemical Peels for cosmetology and esthetic students? Of course …and it’s our own product line we created, not purchased! We do it all, and we do it well! Do you hear Carly Simon in the background…? Nobody Does It Better!
Nails, of the finger, toe and sculpted variety, have become an industry all their own, with fancy add-ons, pink & whites, and air brushed nail art! Did I mention Shellac Nails? Don’t know what that is? We do! And so do our cosmetology and nail technology students.
Now, men want a piece of the action, too! Who ever dreamed we would see such advances in barber styling? Fades, edgy pompadours, and a variety of beard styles — It’s not unusual to see guys asking for the latest in style cuts, hair color techniques, and products. Oh, the variety of products! Yep, we do that, too!
And, how about changes in technology that are now a way of life for today’s beauty & barber professionals? I am proud to say that Salon Schools Group utilizes Apple TV on-site, and an iPad is now a part of every cosmetology, barber and esthetic student’s professional kit of equipment. Technology gives greater access to online education, especially for those students who are re-entering the workforce or making a career switch to cosmetology, esthetics, barber styling or nail technology.
I would have to say, I am MOST proud of advancements in our esthetics department and expanded Spa Division. We have beautiful, might I say
luxurious, state-of-the-art facilities. This is especially important given the growing emphasis on wellness and industry growth among day spas and salons offering spa services. And, the spas in our schools rival many professional salons, not only in appearance, but with the type, quality, and variety of specialized equipment.
The spas are not limited to our esthetic students’ education. Our cosmetology and nail students participate with many of the spa packages clients receive, making for a real salon spa experience, resulting in a more confident graduate! We even serve lunch!
Salon Schools Group responded to higher expectations of Millennials and Gen Xers by formulating our own fantastic line of result-oriented
skincare products for students to use on the backbar and recommend for home care. I don’t know of another school that has created their own line of skincare products. Not heard of Healing Hands or Touch f.p.o.? Don’t worry, it’s very new. You will soon!
Our Vision? Salon Schools Group is committed to being the cosmetology, barber styling, esthetic and nail
technology school that offers students a complete range of training options in the beauty and barber industries. In 2008, Luke Hanks joined our ranks as President of Salon Schools Group. Luke’s background is finance, and it is his vision that will steer the future course of Salon Schools Group to remain the most cutting-edge (get it?) school offering the very best in education in the fields of cosmetology, esthetics, barber styling and nail technology.
Here’s to the future!
