Practical Training… Real Opportunities
Why Choose THE SPA SCHOOL for YOUR CAREER Training?
THE SPA SCHOOL is Columbus Ohio’s premiere facility for students who plan to embark on a career in the spa & salon industry. Graduates from The SPA SCHOOL on High Street start their career with the advantage of a training experience conducted in our recently expanded 6000 square feet of Aaah, where training on skin care, body treatments and nail services takes place. We call it Southern Comfort Spa.
THE SCIENCE THE ART THE BUSINESS
A FORMULA FOR SUCCESS…
THE SPA SCHOOL has a comprehensive training program, frequent workshops, live demonstrations and classes conducted by salon professionals from Columbus and the surrounding central Ohio area delivered at our own beautiful full service facility. You’ll learn the technical aspects and artistic skills needed to become a great hair cutter, colorist and stylist – no need to choose, you learn it all, and you learn it well, with our full 1500 hour course.
Short on time? Not much interest in skin and nails? Then you need the 1200 hour Hair Designer Course!
Both courses are available on a 3 day per week schedule, allowing plenty of personal time for a job or to take care of your family.
Esthetics students learn a combination of ancient and modern techniques for maintaining and restoring the appearance of beautiful skin. Understanding the customer service experience is critical to today’s practitioner. Our students at The Spa School gain hands on experience in a facility fashioned after the finest of destination or day spas anywhere. You will train with our Vichy Shower, MicroDermabrasion equipment, and, your very own airbrush for make up, that’s included in your personal kit of equipment, along with an iPad. You will be well supplied when you step out our door, and into the real salon world.
The Managing Esthetics Program is a 750-hour program that deals specifically with skin care that takes just 6 months to complete. It teaches advanced technical and treatment knowledge including not only facials, but also body treatments, waxing and make-up application. The expanded curriculum covers business knowledge needed to manage or own an Esthetics business.
Nail services are expected to exceed average industry growth in coming years. Our 300-hour course teaches both technical and management skills, as well as nail sculpting, the application of artificial nails, pedicuring and Spa services. In just 10 weeks, you can be on your way to this vital career.

Your SUCCESS is our MISSION!
The Spa School is Columbus Ohio’s premier choice for those pursuing a career in the beauty industry. We are located at 5050 N. High Street in Columbus Ohio. The Spa School is easily accessible from I-71 or the Olentangy Freeway. We are in close proximity to Northland , Worthington, Bishop Waterson, and St Francis DeSales High Schools.
Coming from a Distance?
Some of our students choose to get away from home for their college experience. The Spa School is situated between Clintonville and Old Worthington, both known for their community feel in a large city.
Just north of both OSU campus and the arty Short North, many cultural activities are available free, and our students find many activities to expand their knowledge of the local art scene.
Plenty of retail businesses are within walking distance to The Spa School enabling part time jobs, and both Polaris and Easton Malls are just minutes away.
Our past graduates tell us some of their lifelong friendships were formed with other Spa School students.
Come meet your new BFF!

Know anyone who has a pet hedgehog, much less two hedgehogs? Then meet Sabrina Walden, “mommy” of Murff and Cutie, also mother of one human. Sabrina will be involved in every aspect in your term as a student as she assists other staff members in making your education relevant, fun and hassle free!
While grounded firmly in reality (mostly) she enjoys other-worldly pursuits through MARCON (Multiple Alternate Reality Convention) – with Steam Punk being her favorite alternate genre and Sci Fi being her favorite reading material. (Werewolf? There wolfe!)
Don’t let her makeup, stylish nails and red hair fool you. Janice knows her way around…horses! Raised in Pennsylvania-Dutch Country (yes she speaks that as well as French), Janice is an equestrian of some note, (English Side-Saddle) placing 4th representing Pennsylvania at Madison Square Garden in NYC, during an International Competition.
Now focusing on different manes, Janice has more connections in the Ohio beauty industry than just about anybody. As the long time “face” of Nationwide Beauty Academy and The Spa School, Janice has placed dozens and dozens of SSG graduates in Ohio salons. If there is a salon job opening, Janice knows about it because our graduates are so much in demand.
Janice will be the first to tell you, don’t be brand-washed! Call her at 614-888-1092 to join our family of locally-owned independent schools. Janice works from her office in Columbus, not from another time-zone.
From twirling fire to twirling hair, Susie now twirls in her chair to greet future cosmetologists at Heath’s OSSC admissions office. Yes, Susie was a majorette at Liberty Union High School, in Baltimore, and amazed football crowds with her ability to twirl 3, not just 1, flaming batons.
After graduating from OSSC East, Susie twirled hair for many years, specializing in haircutting and haircolor. Susie especially loved creating her own salon schedule while raising her two sons.
Now, twirling for Susie means answering her phone promptly when you call to schedule your admissions interview. Call Susie today at 740 788 9518.
